Author Tidbits: a Pleasing Bit of Information

Kathleen Krull states she likes to be a detective and help kids remember people in history. She creates biographies of people who are famous in history and others less well-known. She really wants to bring the past and connect with kids. The voice she uses in her writing makes the featured person come alive. You feel as if you might be there, interviewing the person or being their friend, learning alongside them. She has a section on her website for using biographies in the classroom and other resource links for history. You can view her on seven 1 to 2 minute video clips highlighting her thinking behind the books and how she thinks as a writer. I think your students will find her ideas to be helpful in understanding how important history is in relation to today.
