SOL: Silent No More

My computer has been silent for too long, but my mind has not. It’s been gathering, working, revising, and gathering more these past several weeks. My words have not been typed on a post and I have missed the community. But, you have not been forgotten. :)

My heart has been saying good-bye to the end of one chapter. My oldest child, Wesley, graduated from high school.

Scenes have flown by:

college chosen,

baseball team signed,

scholarships awarded,

graduation attended,

open house celebrated,

preparations checked.

The weeks of gathering, planning, remembering have been wonderful, yet exhausting. My motherly heart is full.

Now is the time to begin the quiet (and nervous) ”Hello” to a new chapter.

Father-in-law’s surgery successful; transitioning home soon.

My daughter acquired her driver’s permit; driving lessons commence.

School year ended; reading camp coming to a close.

Books researched; presentation finalized.

Excitement emerging; connections being made.

AllWrite!!! Summer Institute, here I come.

  1. Wow, you have been busy, Mary Helen. I hope each day was a good one, albeit full! Congratulations to your son. It is a big milestone for him, and for your family. Have a great time at All-Write.

  2. Elsie says:

Your life has been on a fast track of changes and transitions. I’m glad you are back. Your voice has been missed.

  3. Congrats to your family on so many accomplishments. Isn’t it fun to just live life and not worry about writing sometimes! Welcome back to writing.

  4. What an exciting time for you. I hope you are able to embrace this new chapter with gusto! :)

  5. This is a slice chock-full of good news! Scholarship, baseball team, learner’s permit, successful surgery… no wonder your motherly heart (and daughterly heart) is full!

I love your opening line. It is the line of a writer. Even when the writing isn’t posted, maybe not even written down, the words are still being drafted in your mind and written on your heart.

So happy your computer is silent no more! And looking forward to seeing(!) you again(!) in two days!

  6. Bethany says:

Hello MH:) It’s been too long:) I am sooo excited to see you this week!

  7. Tammy says:

Your post almost is a replay of my life four years ago…son graduated, college chosen, baseball was not (insert sad face here…all those years traveling), and daughter was starting high school. Fast forward to this year, son graduates college, daughter graduates high school…insert really sad but very proud face here. Don’t blink the next few years will fly. OH and I was suppose to leave today from Oklahoma for the All Write (I got to go last year). Insert really, really, really sad face here, because I don’t get to go this year.
Congrats to you and your family.
    Tammy

  8. Dana says:

Very jealous you are going to ALLWrite. It sounds so fabulous. I can’t wait to hear all about it from fellow slicers.

  9. YOu must have a zillion stories from all these happenings!
